Frequently Asked Questions

Here you'll find a list of the most commonly asked questions. I don't like repeating myself, which is why this page exists. If users ask me questions that are on this page, they will be ignored. I would love to help everyone individually but I just don't have enough hours in the day to keep going over the same things, so please bear with me.

A lot of the time with these answers you are pointed to pages of content that you should have already read. That's what they're there for guys!

Note: Only Skyrim patch version 1.9.32.0.8 and above is supported!

Assuming you are using the latest mod version these will apply.

Installation/Updating

How do I install or update this mod?

Check out the installation guide!

How do I start this mod?

Visit the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun. In the corner is a door leading to the Whiterun Guild Outpost. Go down the stairs and at the far end of the room on a table, next to a lamp, is a book. Take it and the first quest will start.

Is this mod available in languages other than English?

Yes it it however some of the translations may not have been updated for a while. Translations Page.

Dialogue Issues

I can't hear the NPC or Hunters in game say anything. Bug or mod conflict?

Dialogue is currently silent. Turn on your subtitles.

Dialogue subtitles don't work, and dialogue freezes my controls.

Thank you to xuxos on the Nexus for finding the cause.

The problem is related to the following ini setting in your skyrim.ini file:

bBackgroundLoadLipFiles=1

Turn this thing off

bBackgroundLoadLipFiles=0

Lots of people reporting this issue probably have this ini setting (which is often recommended).

Stat Tracking / Skinning Issues

I'm killing an animal and the kill isn't registering in my log book. A bug/mod conflict?

Note: Kill and skinning systems are not available until after the player receives their Guild Log Book, except when obtaining a Deer Carcass during the main quest There's More than One Way to Skin a....

Animals have to fit specific conditions in order to be "seen" by my stat tracking system. If when you kill the animal the notification message saying "(Animal name) Killed" doesn't show in the top left corner of the screen, chances are it's an animal added by a mod and not put into vanilla factions/races. Let me know and maybe I can include them.

Rabbits require something extra, see further down for details.

Lastly if the animal is a vanilla animal that fits the criteria it could be a mod conflict. Have a play around and if you find a conflict let me know.

Known mod conflicts can be found on the compatibility page.

I'm killing an animal and it doesn't have a Carcass object on it. A bug/mod conflict?

Note: Kill and skinning systems are not available until after the player receives their Guild Log Book, except when obtaining a Deer Carcass during the main quest There's More than One Way to Skin a....

Firstly make sure you Hunter's Skinning is actually turned on. Check your Powers. If you have the Enable Hunter's Skinning power, then the system is disabled. Cast that power to turn it on. If it worked, it'll be replaced with the Disable Hunter's Skinning power.

Secondly, as with the previous answer, animals have to fit specific conditions in order to be "seen" by my stat tracking system. If when you kill the animal the notification message saying "(Animal name) Killed" doesn't show in the top left corner of the screen, chances are it's an animal added by a mod and not put into vanilla factions/races. Let me know and maybe I can include them.

Rabbits require something extra, see further down for details.

Lastly if all of the above fails, i.e. the skinning system is on and the animal is a vanilla animal that fits the criteria, it could be a mod conflict. Have a play around and if you find a conflict let me know.

Known mod conflicts can be found on the compatibility page.

Rabbit kills and carcasses aren't working. Why?

Rabbits in the game have a box ticked in their actor window (in the Creation Kit) for Simple Actor. This prevents them from being seen by my mod system. I have that box unticked for Rabbits in the normal game, but any Rabbits added by mods likely still have that box ticked. You can either open the mod in question in the Creation Kit yourself and untick it, or get the mod author to do it.

General Issues

Is this mod compatible with mod X?

There is a compatibility section. If the mod in question is not listed, read through my mod comments. 90% of the time I won't know the answer anyway, so try it and see.

I've completed the contract quest The First of Many, and now all I get is common contracts. Are there any more main quests?

If you have a question about the quests, a full list of all quests in my mod can be found in the Quests section.

The builders in the Guild hall won't talk to me. What gives?

The builders are for aesthetic purposes only. They are for immersion, not for speaking to.

When will the Main Guild Hall be finished?

I have always gone for a "when it's done" approach. But hopefully soon!

Where can I find Skinning Tables and/or Skinning Racks?

Read the Skinning & Carcasses page for details. There are lists.

I have found a mod conflict, what should I do?

Let me know about it and I'll add it to the compatibility page.

I can't find the Wolf near Riverwood / the Great White Stag, where is it?

Can't give everything away. Other users have asked and posted about it before in the comments page of my mod pages, so read through them to find out.

Will or when will you be adding voice acting?

When I'm happy with the gameplay enough that I can forget about it for a while.

When will this mod be finished?

How wide is a Nord's toe?

I'm confused by some of the terminology you use, can you explain?

I have a Glossary of Terms page for that, for words I use to describe things in my mod. If you need help understanding what Skyrim is or what some of the Skyrim terminology means, this is not the website for that.

I think I've found a bug, what should I do?

Read my Reporting a Bug page to see what you should do next.
