Installation Guide

This page is separated into sections for installing the mod, and updating the mod. It is also split into instructions that may be specific for the place you downloaded the mod; ie Steam Workshop or Skyrim Nexus.

Please read everything below carefully before you install or update. You could break your game if you do not follow my instructions.

Note: Only Skyrim patch version 1.9.32.0.8 and above is supported!

Installing the Mod

Use this section if you are installing the mod for the first time, not if you are updating

It's very important that you follow my instructions properly. Because the mod is changing and evolving with every update, things can become messy if you don't follow my instructions.

  1. Firstly decide which version you need to use; Normal version or No Perks.
Read the Compatibility page for details.

  2. Follow the below guide carefully.

  4. Run BOSS to sort your mod load order (recommended).

Updating the Mod

Use this section if you are updating the mod from a previous version. Please read everything below carefully before you update. You could break your game if you do not follow my instructions.

===== Read this section before updating =====

If you currently use version 1.2 or 1.2.1, ensure you meet the following criteria before you update the mod:

1. You have not started any quests at all from this mod, or
2. You have completed The Great White quest.

The mod now only comes as a BSA archive version. So if you are currently using the Loose Files version of this mod, you need to completely remove and delete all files relating to this mod, including scripts, meshes, etc.

If you don't do these things before updating you will break your game.

If you currently use version 1.3 (or above), ensure you meet the following criteria before you update the mod to 1.3.6:

1. You do not have any active quests from this mod. Except if you're stuck on The First Of Many due to the bug in version 1.3.4.

If you don't do these things before updating you will break your game.

  1. Steam Workshop will update your mod automatically when you open the Skyrim launcher. This could be an issue for you depending on what gets changed in an update. It's best to subscribe to the Mod Updates discussion as I will post a week or so before an update to warn people, and you'll receive a notification of that post.

Mod Updates discussion for normal perk version.
Mod Updates discussion for the no perks version.

Nexus/TES Alliance/AFK Users

Recommended Updating Method
  1. Read the above instruction in red before continuing.

  2. Use Nexus Mod Manager to deactivate and uninstall the previous mod version.

  3. Install the new version of the mod, and activate it.

  4. Run BOSS to sort your mod load order (recommended).

Manual Updating
  1. Read the above instruction in red before continuing.

  2. As long as you are using a recent version and only have 2 files relating to this mod, the ESP and BSA files, you are ok to simply copy the new ESP and BSA files to the Skyrim/Data folder, and choose "overwrite existing files".

  3. If you are using a really old version you need to go through your Skyrim/Data folder and remove all previous files relating to this mod. Version 1.2.1 is available to download from the Skyrim Nexus so you can see the files and filepaths.

  4. Run BOSS to sort your mod load order (recommended).
